Advanced Data Encourages CertificationsLinux+ Certification Logo

If you read our 3 part series on “Why We Love Continuing Education and Certifications” you’ll understand why we get excited whenever one of our staff passes one. To us it doesn’t matter which certification as long as the tech is passionate about the subject.

Today we asked Quintin Reineccius to answer a few questions about passing his most recent certification exam.

CompTIA Linux+ validates the competencies required of a system administrator supporting Linux systems

What excited you most about the material covered in this exam or cert?

I work with Linux all the time for Level projects. I wanted to have more core knowledge of the OS.

What did you learn that will help the companies and clients that we serve?

I learned lots of quick ways to work more efficiently in the OS. There are many different ways to do the same thing in Linux.

What was the most difficult part about the exam or the exam preparation?

I was worried about remembering all the right commands and command options being that I wouldn’t have the terminal or man pages for help.

What topic or principles were the most revealing or illuminating to you?

I realized how powerful Linux is. Linux is so customizable and you can configure Linux to do so many things in so many different ways, and just because someone configured their service one way doesn’t mean it’s the best way to configure that service.
