Sisters of Mercy

sistersOfMercyCollageAdvanced Data has been selected to update the infrastructure of the Sister of Mercy Urgent Care facilities in Asheville.

Faced with a huge task, Advanced Data went to work. We began by designing a secure topology for their network and partnering with Charter Communications to roll out a fiber optic network. We updated all workstations to a set standard of hardware requirements, upgraded to Windows XP Professional, and implemented a Windows Server 2003 domain for centralized management.

Each site was connected to each other with fiber via Cisco Network hardware, and made secure with a centralized Cisco Pix firewall. Antivirus was installed centrally, eliminating the need for the users to both run and update the software.

Advanced Data implemented policies across the Sister's of Mercy organization governing the use of their technology to keep the network safe and comply with HIPPA requirements. To allow users to communicate with each other effectively, we implemented Microsoft Exchange 2003 so the organization could share calendars, contacts and have highly customizable webmail. Because we became a partner of the organization, we felt obligated to assist them with their other service providers.

We moved Sister's of Mercy from a Verizon wireless contract to service with U.S. Cellular, saving them roughly a thousand dollars every month. We also noticed inefficiencies with their standard telephone service accounts, and recommended they switch technologies, which saved the organization thousands of dollars monthly.

The Sister's of Mercy Urgent Care facilities continue to be a satisfied customer and value our services as their premier technology provider. We have embraced this role and feel obligated to the organization, assisting them whenever and where ever we can.
