This landmark legislation means nearly $19 Billion is now available for investments and incentives through Medicare and Medicaid to ensure widespread adoption and use of interoperable health information technology.

On February 17, 2009 President Obama signed into law The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, providing us with a tremendous opportunity to transform healthcare in the United States. The law provides $19 billion in health information technology funding, including $2 billion in discretionary funds and $17 billion for investments and incentives through Medicare and Medicaid to ensure widespread adoption and use of interoperable healthcare IT systems such as the Electronic Health Record. |
